Let’s be honest. Perfection is unattainable. Homes are built by people. People are not perfect. If you are expecting perfection, you will be disappointed every time. This doesn’t mean that you can’t or shouldn’t expect excellence though.
Excellence means taking imperfect people and materials and executing a process to a very high level.
Excellence is a project completed on time (just be sure to remember weather delays, change orders, unforeseen conditions, and other items beyond the builders’ control).
Excellence is recognizing and correcting things when they go wrong (and they will).
Excellence is clear, prompt, and frequent communication – what has happened, what is expected to happen, what is required, what obstacles or delays have occurred and what is being done to overcome them.
Excellence is straight walls, functioning doors, functional appliances, plumbing, etc., in other words, good overall quality.
At Custom Dwellings, we do strive for perfection, but are realistic and realize that we will fall short of that goal. Kind of like shooting for the stars and hitting the moon, we shoot for perfection and settle for hitting excellence. Still being honest, sometimes we fall short of excellence at our first attempt. Afterall, we are human, working with other humans and imperfect materials. We won’t accept anything short of excellence though. Even if we must take a step back and try again, we’ll hit that mark.
You don’t have to take my word for it though; our clients speak for us. “Having completed three separate projects with Custom Dwellings we are so thrilled with the outcome of our bath renovation. Mike (project manager) was very diligent at keeping the work area clean- it’s an impossible task and we get that! We enjoyed having the tile installer, Jack, in our home and the overall quality of the work exceeded our expectations once again.”
If you are looking for perfection, let me wish you the best of luck in that endeavor. If you are looking for excellence, please reach out to discuss how we can help you with your next excellent project.
